Delivery Driver/Mover

Reports to: Truck Lead / Operations Director

FLSA (Fair Standards Act) Status: Full-time/Part-time; $20.12 Hourly      

SUMMARY: The mission of Home Sweet Home is to give families a sense of pride and improve the quality of their lives by providing basic household furnishings.  Operating with Non-Profit Partners, Home Sweet Home clients are able to shop for furniture and household items and then those items are delivered to families in St. Louis City and St. Louis County.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Daily maintenance, cleaning, and safety checks on delivery vehicles.
  • Check to make sure that delivery team has all tools needed for that day’s work, along with proper touch-up, and cleaning items.
  • Loading and delivery of client orders and furniture donations.
  • Follow delivery notes.
  • Keeping in contact with customer and warehouse of any delays or discrepancies on deliveries.
  • Greeting each person with a smile and introducing both yourself and your delivery partner.
  • Treating each person, their property, and their items with utmost respect.
  • Inspection of each piece of furniture before donation pick-up.
  • Set up and delivery of items per customer.
  • Notification to agency of any discrepancies in regard to donation pick-up or request that are not noted on paperwork.
  • Immediate notification of any damage of furniture or property to the organization’s facilities or equipment, as well as communicating any such damage to customer.
  • Complete other studies as assigned and attend meetings as requested.

  • Hold him or herself and staff accountable; maintain consistency

REQUIREMENTS

  • 20 years of age or older with a current driver’s license for driver.  Class E is preferred, but not necessary. We can assist if you do not already have a Class E.
  • Prior customer service experience.
  • Delivery, and/or moving experience preferred, but willing to train the right candidate.
  • Must have the ability to repetitively lift, pull and push 50+ pounds, reach above head height, stand, walk, kneel, bend, and reach.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and attitude.
  • Ability to work a flexible daily schedule based on customer and company needs.
  • Able to influence people in positive ways for mutual benefit.
  • Able to pass all background checks.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND SCHEDULE

Maintain mental and physical energy needed to perform essential job requirements. Must be available to work during hours of operation. Specific days and hours will vary depending on the weekly schedule. Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be requested.
