Dear Friends of Home Sweet Home—

After much consideration (and St. Louis County’s ban on events of 50+ people), the decision has been made to cancel this year’s Home Sweet Home Trivia Party that was scheduled for April 4 at the T.A.S.K. Facility in Fenton. Amidst growing concerns about the spread of COVID-19, our Board of Directors and Staff want to protect the safety of not only Home Sweet Home supporters and friends, but also the people who use the T.A.S.K. Facility. Therefore, using the best information currently available from the CDC and local  officials, we are canceling Trivia Night in the interest of public health.

This decision was not made lightly. Trivia Night helps significantly fund our mission to give families a sense of pride and to improve the quality of their lives by providing basic household furnishings. The clients Home Sweet Home serves are most often transitioning out of homelessness, escaping domestic violence, experiencing health crises, living in extreme poverty—existing in the margins. They often live with very little access to healthcare and, in addition, these people lack basic necessities such as beds to sleep in and even towels with which to clean and dry themselves. Home Sweet Home must continue our work to ensure every member of our community has a home that contributes to their family’s health and wellbeing.

While many people will be disappointed in the decision to cancel Trivia Night, our hope is that you will support this decision knowing that it is in the best interest of the community at-large. We would be honored for you to consider donating your entry fee to support this mission. If, however, you would like to have your entry fee returned, please send an email with your request to betsy.reznicek@HomeSweetHomeSTL.org and we will work with you to process that.
